WarnerMedia Releases HBO Max Streaming Dates For Major 2022 Releases

In 2021, Warner Bros implemented a co-release strategy where all of their feature films were released in theaters and on HBO Max simultaneously. The new strategy caused many waves within the film industry with some filmmakers and movie theaters condemning the move completely.

Warner Bros. decided not to continue the co-release strategy in 2022 and will have exclusive releases in theaters for their most anticipated movies. However, the films will be made available to watch on HBO Max 45 days after the theater release.

The Batman, for example, will be released in theaters on March 4th and on HBO Max on April 19th, 2022. WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar discussed the new strategy on Vox’s Recode podcast.

“Think about when movies would show up on HBO, which is eight to nine months after theatrical premiere. The Batman is going to show up on day 46 on HBO Max. That is a huge change from where things were in 2018, 2017, 2016.” — Jason Kilar

The release strategy will be for WarnerMedia’s biggest tentpole films in franchises such as DC Comics, MonsterVerse, and Harry Potter.

“I feel really, really good knowing that The Batman, and Black Adam, and The Flash, and Elvis, and a whole host of other movies, are literally going to be showing up on day 46 on HBO Max in a variety of territories all over the world,” — Jason Kilar

For The Flash, Black Adam, Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, and Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, we can predict their HBO Max release dates based on their expected theater release dates.

The Batman – Released in theaters on March 4th and on HBO Max on April 19th, 2022.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore – Released in theaters on April 15th and on HBO Max on May 30th.

Black Adam – Released in theaters on October 21st and on HBO Max on December 6th, 2022.

The Flash – The theatrical release has been moved to June 23rd, 2023. If the HBO Max strategy continues in 2023, it will be available for streaming on August 8th, 2023.

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom – The theatrical release has been moved to March 17th, 2023. If the HBO Max strategy continues in 2023, it will be available for streaming on May 2nd, 2023.

Fans Are Demanding This Marvel Film Be Made Next After No Way Home

Spoilers For Spider-Man: No Way Home and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Below

Andrew Garfield’s run as Spider-Man has been controversial, to say the least. The first Amazing Spider-Man was liked by fans and critics, but The Amazing Spider-Man 2 was seen as an unfocused mess, overstuffed with characters. It didn’t help plans for a third movie when Sony’s infamous hacking of emails revealed the studio’s discussions about rebooting Spider-Man and having him join the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Unfortunately for Garfield, the deal for Spider-Man to join the MCU went through and Tom Holland took the reigns as MCU’s new Spider-Man. Despite the negative reviews of The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Garfield’s performance as Spider-Man was liked by most audiences.

Spider-Man: No Way Home came out about a week ago and the reception from it is proof of how underrated Garfield’s Spider-Man was. Now, fans are calling for Garfield to return as Spider-Man one last time.

Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man completed his character arc and trilogy which left fans satisfied with his character as a whole. On the other hand, audiences have only seen half of Garfield’s character arc, which lead to audiences embracing his character more in No Way Home.

Audiences were anticipating to love Tobey Maguire’s appearance in No Way Home but Andrew Garfield’s witty and endearing cameo secretly stole the show.

No Way Home also reveals aspects about the events that happened to Garfield’s Spider-Man after Gwen’s death. Garfield’s Spider-Man discusses struggling with rage and that he fell down a dark path, which may hint at a run-in with Venom, the symbiote alien, as well.

The Amazing Spider-Man 3 was trending on Twitter as fans called for The Amazing trilogy to be completed.

Whether or not Sony has taken to the idea of Andrew Garfield returning remains to be seen. However, industry insider Daniel Richtman made a tweet recently that gives hope to any fans of Garfield’s Spider-man, “I also hear Andrew might be coming back”.

As we’ve seen with the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League earlier this year, the unrelenting will of the fans can influence Hollywood creatives in many ways. Time will tell but The Amazing Spider-Man 3 is not an impossibility.
