Disney Plus has opened the doors for many movie franchises to expand their cinematic universe and create multiple spinoffs based on popular characters. With Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, the studio has put a focus on releasing fresh and invigorating Star Wars content. We’ve already gone through the details of the Obi-Wan series scheduled for release in 2022, now we are looking at all of the details you need to know about the Ahsoka series.

Details About The Ahsoka Tano Live-Action Series

Who is Ahsoka Tano?

Voiced by Ashley Eckstein, Ahsoka Tano made her debut in the Star Wars Universe in The Clone Wars animated series. Tano was Anakin’s padawan between Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, which lasted 3 years. As a commander in the Clone Wars, Tano became very close with the Jedi leadership and the clone army. Outside of Padme and Obi-Wan, she had the closest relationship to Anakin Skywalker before he turned evil. It’s unclear what happened to Tano after Order 66, but she also makes an appearance in Star Wars Rebels as an adult, years after the Jedi Order had been destroyed.

Her character became wildly popular during The Clone Wars series which led to her appearance in an episode of The Mandalorian season 2. This was the first glimpse at a live-action Ahsoka Tano played by Rosario Dawson, and the portrayal was praised by fans for its accuracy.

The Story

As we saw in The Mandalorian, Ahsoka is on a mission to find Imperial Grand Admiral Thrawn of the Empire. Thrawn went missing in the last moments of Star Wars: Rebels with Jedi in-training, Ezra Bridger. Ahsoka made a promise to find Ezra and was attempting to keep that promise in her Mandalorian appearance.

When Will The Story Take Place?

The story will take place around the same time as The Mandalorian, 5 years after the events of The Return of the Jedi. However, Hayden Christensen is set to reprise his role as Darth Vader who would be dead during this time period. It’s likely the series will flashback to an earlier time period, but there is always the possibility of Anakin’s Force ghost making an appearance as well.

Who is the Cast?

Most of the details about Star Wars: Ahsoka have been kept under wraps; however, we do have a few confirmed actors for the series. Natasha Liu Bordizzo will play Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior who worked closely with Ezra Bridger. Ivanna Sakhno will play an allegedly newly created character that is opposite of Ahsoka and Sabine. It has been reported that Mary Elizabeth Winstead will also be joining the series but her role has not been disclosed as of yet.

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, the creators of the Star Wars: Ahsoka Series

Who is the Crew?

Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni, the creators of The Mandalorian, will also be working on Star Wars: Ahsoka. Dave Filoni was the showrunner for Star Wars: The Clone Wars and he is the creator of the entire Ahsoka Tano character. Filoni will be the primary writer for the series while Jon Favreau will serve as executive producer.

When Will The Series Premiere?

There is no scheduled or even expected release date for Star Wars: Ahsoka currently. However, since the series is expected to go into production in early 2022, it’s likely that the series will be released in 2023.
