Paramount Releases The First Trailer For ‘SCREAM 2022’

October 15, 2021 | Benjamin Carpenter

Paramount has released the first trailer for the upcoming movie, SCREAM. The horror movie is the 5th installment in the Scream series and will also be the first Scream movie to be released in over a decade.

This will also be the first Scream movie to not be directed by Wes Craven, who passed in 2015 due to a brain tumor. In place of Craven, the directors of Ready or Not, Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillet, have taken up the mantle as the directors of SCREAM.

According to David Arquette, who plays Dewey, Gillet and Bettinelli-Olpin have put in a lot of effort to honor Craven’s legacy by balancing horror and humor in the movie.

“They really have honored the history of it, so I think it’s just going to be a new, exciting, scary, funny continuation and rebirth of a franchise.” – David Arquette

Scream 5 centers around a new killer who has donned the Ghostface mask and begins targeting a group of teenagers to resurrect secrets from Woodboro’s deadly past. Based on the trailer, we will see Sidney, Gale, and Dewey being consultants to a new group of teenagers, instructing them on how to survive the new killer.

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox Arquette, and David Arquette return to play their iconic roles along with Marley Shelton, who played a police officer in Scream 4. Newcomers to the series include Melissa Barrera, Kyle Gallner, Mason Gooding, Mikey Madison, Dylan Minnette, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Sonia Ammar.

Paramount has scheduled SCREAM to be released in theaters on January 14, 2022.
