There’s been a lot of buzz lately surrounding Johnny Depp, and unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you know why. The actor’s personal life has been under a microscope because of the defamation trial where Johnny Depp sued ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million in damages based on her past claims of domestic violence.
Because of Heard’s allegations, Depp has claimed to have lost many movie roles, including his iconic role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. The defamation suit ended in Depp’s favor with a unanimous decision from the jury, and recently, there was a report that Disney had offered Depp a $300 million deal to bring Depp back to the Pirates franchise.
The report has since then been proven to be false after Depp’s representative issued a statement that Disney has not approached the actor with any deal. “This is made up.” The representative told NBC News.
Johnny Depp played Jack Sparrow in all five Pirates of the Caribbean movies. The most recent of them being Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in 2017. He was cut from the sixth film in early 2019.
Depp has expressed no interest in reprising his role as Jack Sparrow in the near or distant future. During the infamous defamation trial, Depp was asked “If Disney came to you with $300 million and a million alpacas, nothing on this earth would get you to go back and work with Disney on a Pirates of the Caribbean film? Correct?”
Depp responded, “That is true.”
Johnny Depp is set to star as French king Louis XV in his next film directed by French director Maiwenn. The film will begin production this summer.
All five Pirates of the Caribbean movies can be found on Disney Plus.
